The Making of Our White Lily Photoshoot
I've been on a mission to create photography that is not only beautiful but speaks to our individual souls. As an artist, I feel that the biggest challenge we face is communicating what's in our hearts to others in a way that creates commonality. Being able to connect with others through art is a gift that makes that world a more beautiful and meaningful place. Great artwork requires thought, insight, research and understanding of the world around us. Great photography requires knowledge of lighting, posing, composition, use of props to tell a story and even color.
Hi - My name is Leslie and I'm a Fine Art & Beauty Portrait Photographer. My photography studio is located in Spring, Texas and I love to create beautiful artwork. Thank you for being here and allowing me to share a bit of my creativity with you all. I was moved by a photograph created by the amazing Jai Mayhew using white Easter Lilies. I was immediately drawn to not only the beauty of her subject but the simplistic look of this complex artistic styling.
One of my biggest inspirations is imagery that tells a story or the use of the camera as a tool to portray the beauty of a person. Art is a way of communicating with images that are full of hidden meanings and words. It's a way for me to tell the thoughts of my heart with the world and to share the world as I see through my eyes. This constant digging for connection with others on a deep level helps to tell my story, my dreams, my desires through the art of photography while using imagery to directly connect spiritually to glorify our creator.
Mentioned many times in the Bible, the white lily symbolizes purity, rebirth, new beginnings and hope. The beauty of this flower has inspired the work of writers and artists for centuries. Lilies symbolize beauty and carries the look of perfection. Through this flower, we can see how creation has the potential reflect the goodness and likeness of our creator. This strong flower with gentle curves personifies purity as white as its petals.
I love the use of the light and dark contrast between the lilies and the dark background in all these images. The composition and placement of the lilies move your eyes evenly throughout the image keeping the focus directly on the beautiful model who symbolizes new life. Growing into something new is one thing we can all relate to. However being reborn in a new light (to start over) or regain our innocence and see the world through a new light is healing.
